Mary-Ellen Bard graduated from University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Laws in 1980 and a Masters of Laws in 1990. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW in 1981. Mary-Ellen has been employed as a Litigation lawyer at a number of prestigious law firms including Hunt and Hunt, Blake Dawson Waldron (formerly Dawson Waldron) – where she was the first female to be appointed as a senior associate in the Litigation department – and Hicksons (formerly Hickson, Lakeman & Holcombe) – where she was made a senior associate in 1997.
Mary-Ellen Bard has held appointments as an Arbitrator in both the Supreme Court and District Court and was engaged as an acting District Court judge in 1996 and 1997. Mary–Ellen has been employed with Paul Bard Lawyers since 2004 and has enjoyed tackling challenging litigation matters in the personal injury, building and construction, general commercial and family provision areas. Mary-Ellen has had success in all jurisdictions including the Court of Appeal. She is motivated to obtain the best results for her clients and has advantageously negotiated resolution of matters and became a Principal of the firm in 2017.
